Simulation course has been an integral part of IE curriculum for the past two decades. Although, the software used in the class has changed a couple of times during this period, the pedagogy and teaching philosophy of it have not. Software is only a part of this class and not the the main emphasis. The main emphasis is to learn the essential elements of simulation, why it is done, how it is done, what the main elements of a simulation study are, how to collect the data, how to set up a model, how to run the simulation, and what to do with the simulation result.
As such it is very important, that you make yourself familiar with what we have done in the past in this class. Check the archive of past classes, exams, homework assignments, and smaple solved problems to prepare yourself for the class. Check the ample resources available on Internet for tutorials, check the courses at other schools with similar content and stay informed about the applications of simulation in the world.
